Harry Potter Locations You MUST Visit In The UK

by Ossian Maxx

If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter series, then you’ll definitely want to check out some of the locations in the UK where the movies were filmed. Many of these spots can be found all around the country, and they’re definitely worth a visit if you’re into magical fantasy worlds.

Visitors to the UK can see the infamous cobbled street that Hagrid ran into the Leaky Cauldron, the narrow alley where Harry learned his first spell, and the towering castle that served as their home. You can also see the hall at Hogwarts and the great hall where they had their meals and the Quidditch field. These places will definitely make you feel like you’ve been transported into a magical fantasy world, and you’ll be impressed with all the detail that went into creating the movies!

The Elephant House

The Elephant House is a charming little café located in the middle of Edinburgh, Scotland. Tourists from all over the world come to see a piece of Harry Potter history and to sit in the same chair that J.K. Rowling sat in all those years ago. The café is decorated with all sorts of Harry Potter collectibles, and there is a large mural of Hogwarts above the bar. Reviews on TripAdvisor say that the food is delicious, the service is great, and that it’s a fun place for anyone who is a huge Harry Potter fan. The Elephant House is known as a historical landmark, and is a must-see on any Harry Potter fan’s bucket list! If you’re flying into the capital on your magical adventure to the UK, it could be worth enquiring about car hire at Edinburgh Airport to get you to and from these destinations.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London

This is the spot where you can see all the behind-the-scenes magic that went into making the Harry Potter movies. You can explore the sets, costumes, and special effects that were used in the films, and it’s definitely a must-see for any fan of the series. One of the best parts of the tour is that you can see the Great Hall that was used in several scenes, including the Yule Ball in the fifth film. What’s so magical about the studio tour is that you can experience all the scenes that you watched in the film. What’s also great is that you can take a ride to Hogwarts on the Hogwarts Express! A great way to experience the magic!

The Glenfinnan Viaduct

The Glenfinnan Viaduct is a railway viaduct in Glenfinnan, Scotland that was made famous by its appearances in the Harry Potter movies. It’s a beautiful spot that’s definitely worth a visit if you’re into Harry Potter or just want to see some amazing scenery.

Many scenes from the Harry Potter franchise were filmed at the Glenfinnan Viaduct, including the scene where the Hogwarts Express comes steaming into view. If you’re a fan of the films, then you’ll want to check out this spot for yourself and see all the magic that went into making these iconic scenes.

Platform 9 3/4

Platform 9 3/4 is the entrance to the Hogwarts Express, the train that takes Harry, Ron, and Hermione to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The platform, along with its counterpart platform 10, is inside King’s Cross station, located in London, England. The phrase “platform nine and three-quarters” has since become a popular idiom for any person or thing that doesn’t conform to the norm. The original sign was a feature of Kings Cross for years, however after multiple reports of people actually running head first in to the wall, the sign was moved up to the National Railway Museum in York.

The Little Shambles (Diagon Alley)

The Little Shambles is a charming little street located in the town of York, England. It’s said that the street got its name from the fact that it was once home to many butchers and their shops, which would have resulted in a lot of blood and animal carcasses. The name “shambles” is derived from an old English word meaning “mess” or “chaos”.

The Little Shambles is now a popular tourist destination, thanks to its inspired appearance in the Harry Potter movies. In the films, it’s known as Diagon Alley, the magical street where Harry does all his shopping for school supplies. The street is lined with charming shops, and it’s a great place to take a stroll and do some window-shopping – there’s even a Harry Potter shop there called ‘The Shop That Must Not Be Named.

Goathland Station (Hogsmeade)

If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter movies, then you’ll want to check out Goathland Station, which was used as the set for Hogsmeade Station in the films. Hogsmeade is the village that’s located near Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and it’s a great place to visit if you’re a fan of the series.

Goathland Station is a beautiful spot that’s worth a visit in its own right, even if you’re not into Harry Potter. The station is located in North Yorkshire, England, and it’s a great place to stop and take a break while you’re exploring the area. There’s a café on site where you can get a cup of coffee or tea, and there’s also a gift shop where you can buy souvenirs.

The Highlands

If you’re looking for a breathtaking Harry Potter experience, then you need to check out The Highlands in Scotland. This is the spot where many of the outdoor scenes from the films were shot, and it’s absolutely stunning.

The Highlands is a vast area that covers a large part of Scotland, and there’s plenty to see and do there. If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter movies, then you’ll want to check out some of the key locations that were used in the films. Some of the most popular spots include the already-mentioned Glenfinnan Viaduct, The Quiraing, and The Five Sisters of Kintail.

These locations are all incredibly scenic, and they offer an amazing Harry Potter experience that you won’t find anywhere else. If you’re looking for an epic Scottish road trip, then The Highlands is definitely worth checking out.

Enjoy Your Visit

After visiting some of these Harry Potter locations myself, I can say without a doubt that they are absolutely stunning. If you’re a fan of the movies or books, then you need to check them out for yourself. The scenery is stunning, and it’s a great way to experience the magic of Harry Potter firsthand. Happy travels!
